Sonata
  • Four movements that contrast along slow ad fast beats with different textures and rhythms.

  • Slow- fast (fugued)- slow (homophonic) - fast

  • It's composed for a solo instrument, a duo or a trio, but always with the accompaniment of the basso continuo.

Concerto
  • Three contrasting movements; depending on how the instruments intervene:

Concerto grosso: for a group of soloists (concertino) and the rest of the orchestra (tutti). A.CORELLI, G.F.HAENDEL, J.S.BACH

Solo concerto: composed fora single soloist instrument that contrasts in constant dialog with the orchestra.A.VIVALDI

 

Fugue

For organ; 1 movement, counterpoint texture, based on imitation.
