CHARACTERISTICS

  • It appeared in the mid-1900s as another Romantic component.: they sought to accentuate the musical and cultural individuality and autonomy fo different countries.

  • Special relevance in countries that had not had a lot of weight in the artistic development and they come out of their cultural inferiority by looking into their own history and traditions.

  • Use of folklore in 2 ways:

- copying the sources: introducing a popular melody in a piece.

- imitating its characteristic musical features, scales and melodies, dance rhythms,etc.
